My Review

It all started when he couldn't keep his mouth to himself. Asking for a kiss of peace led Colin to one of the biggest regrets of his life.

For Lady Sorcha is led to the destruction of her family and hatred for all things Marr. Her betrothed, drunken and jealous raised his hand to her. Her father, despising a man that would raise a hand to a woman he'd vowed to love and protect broke off the betrothal.

Colin ran, unknowing of the events he set into motion. Clans at war, and betrayal of all he held dear and just some of the elements that are woven through the fabric of Knight Protector.

I love a good historical romance and I thought this one was great! Delicious knights, secrets and intrigue kept me on the edge of my seat and reading. Rue weaves a tale of Medieval Highland Romance that will melt your heart.

More Reviews ~ Roaring for Him ~ Ready to Were

5.0 out of 5 stars Lions and Tigers and Bears Oh my! And Wolves, don't forget the steaming hot wolves!June 20, 2015
I love Celia Kyle's writing style. Tilly, her sisters, her best friend Emma and their interaction with the Wilder pack and Tilly's response to Mitchell the Wilder alpha. Hot and sizzling, I thoroughly enjoyed their interaction, Tilly's fierceness and Mitchell's kill anything that bother's Tilly attitude. Another winner by Celia.

I received the book free after once again begging to review it, lol.

5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed the book and had to buy the next oneJune 20, 2015

Reviews ~ Everly ~ Mason

on July 12, 2015
Everly captures your soul and drags you in. I can't wait for the sequel to see how it ends.

on July 10, 2015
Well, I just had to read Mason. Everly ended in a cliffhanger and I got a request to review Mason and jumped on it! The dynamics and emotions Mason evokes are heart wrenching, and drew me into the story. Everly’s tale is heart breaking. She has survived and is afraid to live.
Mason has lived through his own type of Hell and emerged a better stronger man for it. He knows what he wants and it is Everly. Despite the hurt she unknowingly caused Mason, he can’t help but love her.
A well written and engrossing plot, along with well rounded characters make Mason a sequel not to be missed. Read Everly first, but you’ll immediately be reaching for Mason to find out the rest of the story.

Reviews of recent reads ~ Slow Burn ~ Daughter of Valor

This little squirt has been taking up all of my free time. They are only young once and you can't blame anyone for spending time with their first grandchild!

However, I can't NOT read, lol. So I've been spending sleeping time reading other author's books. I've found some great reads too. Here are a few of my reviews.

July 12, 2015
Gritty and down to earth, I was immersed in the world of Derrick and Sonja. From the cigar lounge to the stage, the beat of their lives surrounded me as they came together fast and furious, not realizing the implication of the binding of their souls. Fast paced, Slow Burn takes you on a tumultuous ride behinds the scenes of an ex-spy and a death metal singer as their lives twine together.

4.0 out of 5 stars Always a HeroJuly 12, 2015

Release Blast ~ Born to Magic by David Wind

Born To Magic
by David Wind
Series: Tales of Nevaeh: Volume 1
Genre: Science Fiction/Fantasy
Release Date: February 15, 2015

Welcome to Nevaeh: a world where technology no longer exists, but magic does.

Long ago, a mythical nation known as 'America' died in the violence and radiation of the terrorist wars. Now their descendants dwell in a world of ritual and magic where ten dominions struggle for supremacy while a dark power rises to threaten them all.

In Nevaeh, where men are blessed with great strength and women have both strength and psychic abilities, one woman has been chosen to be Nevaeh's savior, Areenna—the only daughter of the King of Freemorn.

Barely eighteen, Areenna's psychic abilities—her magic— are already stronger than that of most women. But when Areenna is called to The Island, a place where all women of psychic power must go, but from where only some return, she soon learns the fate of her world is in her hands.

Accompanied by Mikaal, the son of the High King of Nevaeh, the two undertake a perilous journey to a place of great power, in an effort to save Nevaeh from the oncoming darkness, and these dark and evil forces will do everything in their power to stop Areenna from reaching her destination.

Areenna’s journey is filled with unimaginable dangers as they cross through three of Nevaeh's ten dominions, and through the haunted wastelands and badlands filled with the mutated survivors of the nuclear holocaust to fight their way to what will either claim both their lives or give them the powers to save their world.

“There is no choice.” Cupping the sides of his head, the High King of Nevaeh held himself as if trying to ease a headache of astonishing proportions.

“There is always a choice.” The High Queens’s voice was as soothing as was the hand stroking his back. While smaller than most men of Nevaeh, the king was broad across the chest and shoulders, narrow at the hips with powerful legs and arms. Yet none would have pictured him a king for his size combined with the delivery of his words served to make him appear slow-witted. He, however, was far from slow-witted. He considered every word he spoke carefully before allowing it to pass his lips.

His special combination of strength and intelligence had allowed him to defeat the sorceresses controlled and led by the Masters of the Circle of Afzal—the leaders of the shadowy empire across the sea. These witches had held Nevaeh in virtual slavery, using the fighting between the ten dominions to keep their Dark Masters’ strength high—for they fed not upon earthly food, but by keeping the rulers of Nevaeh at each other’s throats, living and growing in the power created by the dark energies born from the fighting.

By defeating the Afzaleem, he became the first person to unite the dominions of Nevaeh under a single rule while at the same time denying the Circle their Nevaen puppets.

The king lifted his head to look into the gray eyes of his mate. “There is no choice,” he repeated. “We must keep the trust and willingness of all rulers to allow themselves and their families to be led rather than forced.”

“There are still those who resist what we do to help them,” she said.

“No, it is because those few have no faith in me,” he whispered. While his words were simple, they were true.

“Perhaps…Yet I know there will be one who comes to your aid, when the time is right,” she whispered. “I have foreseen it in my dreams, My Lord. You have changed much since you became high king and you ask the people to do the same. And remember, what follows this change is what you seek to guide, not the change itself. The rest will take more time than you and I have, which is why you must wait for the right person.”

“How long is the wait? We both know the situation grows dire. The lords of the ten will start feuding again as the remnants of the Circle try to rise. The Afzaleem are all but dead. But we know the Circle will find new vassals to fill with darkness…if they have not done so already. Soon there will begin fighting. The people will be easily swayed should the dark power find a way to regain a foothold…and such can only happen when dominion fights dominion. They almost won, and they will try again—they will never stop. How long must the wait be?” he repeated, not seeking an answer but putting forth the question to the very air itself. “Days? Weeks? Years?”

In from the window floated the voice of their sixteen year old son, Mikaal, as he trained for combat in the courtyard below. “This person will come. It will not be…overly long, my husband, my…Lord. It will happen—perhaps not in the way you think it should, but it will come about the way it must.”

I love a good fantasy and Born to Magic is definitely that! It caught my interest as it is set in a post-apocalyptic word, a fantastical and unusual world. We all know that nuclear weapons will change us and not necessarily for the better. Perhaps not the for the worst either. David Wind creates a wildly fascinating world that I felt totally immersed in.
Areenna and Mikaal were interesting characters with unexpected depths. Only the first of their adventures, Areenna and Mikaal grow and find unexpected and complementary powers the bind them closer together.
An interesting premise, Born to Magic is a fascinating look at a world that changed and was torn apart only to regroup and grow strong once again.

I live and write in a small village about thirty miles upstate of NYC, and share my home with my wife, Bonnie and our dog Alfie, an apricot poodle.

When I began writing in 1980, I had no idea where I was headed. Since then, I've published thirty-five novels, thirty-three of them with traditional publishers, but I decided I wanted more freedom than the traditional publishers would allow and began a new phase in my life as an Independent Author.

Sci-Fi & fantasy has always been my most favorite genre.   My first novel in the genre, Queen Of Knights was a medieval / historical fantasy and reached #2 on the Amazon.com bestseller lists for historical fantasy and medieval fantasy, and my sci-fi of parallel worlds, The Others, received wide acclaim.

M first Independent novel, Angels In Mourning, was my 'homage' to the old time private detective books of the late 40's, 50's and 60's.  I used to love to sneak them from my parents’ night-tables and read them as a young boy.  Angels is a modern day take on the old style hardboiled detective.  Angels In Mourning won the Amazon.com Book of the Month Reader's Choice Award shortly after it was published.

My most current thriller, The Cured, was written with Terese Ramin. The idea for this Medical Thriller came shortly after the death of a close friend.  I couldn't help but wonder about the medication....

My previous suspense thrillers are The Hyte Maneuver, (a Literary guild alternate selection); As Peace Lay Dying, Conspiracy of Mirrors, And Down Will Come Baby, Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep ,and Shadows.

#Review ~ The Twelfth Night Queen by Rita Bay

The Twelfth Night Queen

Amelia Fontaine had been betrothed to her cousin, Percy Westbury, while she was still in leading strings. When Percy and his family arrive for a long holiday visit, Amelia is dismayed by the prospect of the impending arranged marriage. With his estate in shambles, Percy flaunts his plans to use Fontaine Hall’s wealth to benefit his family’s fortunes. When Percy demands that Amelia end her friendship with her neighbor, Edward Thornton, will she choose to follow tradition or pursue happiness?

Edward Thornton, the Earl of Bridgwater, couldn’t remember a time he didn’t love Amelia. He didn’t believe her grandmother would insist on an arranged marriage, until the entire Westbury clan invites themselves to Fontaine Hall. When Edward discovers Percy’s secret life and his sinister plans for Amelia, he embarks on a campaign to rescue her. Will the Twelfth Night Queen help him save Amelia from her cruel fate?

Review:

A lovely historical with a feisty heroine and loving hero. I enjoyed the story line and how real the characters were. The grandmothers were a hoot. Edward was a love. I truly enjoyed his character as he was noble and fallible in turn. Amelia was a lively young lady who'd grown up adored and wanted to please her family, but not so much that she was willing to turn a blind eye to how her future would unfold if she didn't protest.

The bad guy eventually turned out not so bad at the end either! They were all truly just looking for love.

An enjoyable tale of love and a timeless celebration of Twelfth Night enchants as we meet The Twelfth Night Queen.

#MovieReview ~ Into the Storm

Review: Into the Storm

In the span of a single day, the town of Silverton is

ravaged  by an unprecedented onslaught of tornadoes.

The entire town is at the mercy of the erratic and deadly

cyclones.
Starring:
Richard Armitage, Sarah Wayne Callies
Runtime:
1 hour 36 minutes

Review:
An exciting nail biting tornado movie jack potted with comedic elements.

The redneck storm chasers had me falling out of my seat. Let me tell you, I live in Wisconsin and I know people just like that! LOL funny in parts.

Excellent storm footage, it's amazing what film making can now do. I was clenching my hands and gritting my teeth holding on as the tornado came. It had heart rending moments. Imagine leaving a message on a cell phone to tell your family how much you loved them as the water starts to cover your head.

If you've ever been in or near or hid from a tornado, Into the Storm will make you feel like you are right back there again.

It should be 5 tornadoes! The only thing it was missing was sharks!

#Review ~ Raleigh Point - Rescue ~ Victoria Sue

Lisa was wicked.

Wicked and damaged. She’s spent half her twenty years locked away in a psychiatric facility because her uncontrollable alpha rages are inexplicable in a human world. Orphaned when she was a baby, she doesn't even know what she is. All she knows is what they've always told her. Wicked.
At twenty-six years Mac helps his family run Raleigh Point, a group foster home for abused or abandoned shifter babies and children. Beyond taking on an occasional tracking job for the FBI, he never has worried about much. He likes to play hard, usually with an attractive woman.

Never too much responsibility. Life is good.

Taking the phone call alert, Mac breezes in to rescue her. In that grimy god-forsaken excuse for a hospital, Mac realizes life has to change. He discovers Lisa is not only drugged and damaged, she’s his mate

The battle continues when a crazed rogue alpha decides to make Lisa his queen.

Excerpt 1

Mac hunkered down in front of the shaking, curled-up form in the corner. Humanity?
Some people didn’t know the meaning of the word.
Mac hesitated as he took her in. He couldn’t smell her as the stench of the place was
masking it, and he wished again he had his mom or Cassie with him. He also acknowledged that
Brett had it right. They were drugging her to move her, and he’d only just got here in time.
His eyes fastened on the trembling figure in front of him. Short gasps tore out of her throat.
Head hunched down, arms tightened around the knees, and clasped against her chest. Hanging
on. Filthy sweats, worse than some he’d thrown away. Goose bumps pricking her bare arms. The
only bright thing in muddy looking, matted hair, was red. A drop. God, had they hit her? She hid
her face, alternated between shivering and rocking, except with no chair. What the hell did they
do to you, honey?
Lisa? Yeah, that was what Brett said her name was. Mac cleared his throat. He had to get her
out of here, and he didn’t have time to be gentle.
“Lisa? We need to get you out of here.”
He placed one hand on her shaking forearm. He caught the swift arc of her arm trying to
connect with his face. Whoa, well, that was definitely an alpha reaction. Taking me on? He’d
have laughed if it were funny—at all.
“No one’s gonna hurt you. Don’t you wanna get out of here? Mmm? There ya go.” He
shrugged out of his sweatshirt.
Thin arms stiffened but stayed still, and her chest rose at a slower rate when he’d gently
pulled the sweatshirt past her eyes. “So, you’re not ready to try and take me out, huh?”
She lifted her face finally.
Oh God, now?
Here?
Of all times and in all places, stuck in some dingy shit excuse for a hospital, with some girl
who looked like she needed far more care than he could give. His bear clawed frantically at him
to get out, nearly bowling him over in the rush to get to her.
Mate.
Mac growled and hung his head in despair. He hadn’t been able to smell her because of
everything else, and it had taken brushing the side of her arm to help her with his sweatshirt as
she lifted her face to him to know.
God, what a mess.
Mate.
A soft touch pulled his gaze. Possessiveness whirled around Mac as he struggled not to
gather her up and bury her in his arms. Need stabbed him. Confusion chased the gold flecks in
her gorgeous eyes, and he wanted it gone. He wanted those incredible eyes clear and focused—
on him.
He realized she would feel a connection, but her ignorance and whatever drugs she had in
her system masked it. She lifted a shaky hand to touch the side of his face, but still didn’t say one
word. Deep purple marks marred her neck. Mac’s body tightened, and a shallow breath managed
to escape. He took in her pale face under the bruises and gazed at the chipped stubs of filthy,
bitten fingernails as she lowered her hand back to her side.
Mac pulled himself together. “Lisa, we need to get you out of here, okay?” He gently helped
her stand. She winced as he looped an arm around her side to steady her.
He took one look around the bare room and didn’t bother to ask if she needed to take
anything. Taking one cautious step, she tried, but her knees buckled. Mac caught her before got
anywhere near the floor. Without thinking, he brushed one kiss on her forehead and looked
into those big eyes that were fighting to stay open. She blinked at him slowly, easier breaths
ghosting his face, and Mac’s arm tightened as her head lowered. Yes.
In that small, cautious, trusting movement, Mac heard his bear roar protectively as his arms
tightened around her. No one would ever hurt a hair on her head again. While he still had breath
left in his body, she would be safe, she would be cared for, and she would be loved.

Excerpt 2

Mine.
Mac eased her back alongside him some more. He pushed his thigh in between her legs and
felt her shuddering as his cock scraped her buttocks. He kissed the soft side of her neck and
explored her shoulder blades with his tongue. His cock was pulsing in time to his heart.
Mac knew he had to go slow. His chest had swelled so much when she’d said he would be
her first. He’d nearly panicked. He’d shot out of the bedroom like some scared kid. He wanted
her relaxed and ready.
Cautiously, he explored with his fingers some more and found the little nub. He groaned as
it became swollen and desperately wanted to suck on it. With one finger, he teased it away from
its hood and flicked gently.
Lisa jerked and gasped. Next time he wanted to feel those muscles tighten on him. He
needed her in bed, now.
He went to pick her up, but she shimmied away, hazel eyes locked on him, pupils wide. He
hitched a breath. One push from her hand and he was against the tiles. She grabbed each of his
hands and lifted them, so they were above his head. “Keep them there.”
Mac nearly shot his load there and then.
He leaned his head back against the tiles, hard. Fuck, she was going down on him. Hot
breathy, wet kisses feathered his abs, teasing him, promising him. Fingers that only existed to
trail his skin, tightened and snaked lower. Mac locked his knees. His cock jumped to meet her.
Agonized— didn’t she know he was gonna die?—lips pressed his skin. He was on fire. Mouth
seized, harsh pants filled the room, and steam rose.
Christ, a warm, wet, blissful heat enclosed his dick. He dropped his head. He wanted to do
something unmanly, like cry. Fucking perfect. Tingles started in his spine, and he knew wouldn’t last
long. Fuck, she’d found… His knees nearly gave way. “Oh God, Oh God, Yessss,”
he hissed as her tongue pushed in his slit.
She paused, as if she was going to regroup, and for one awful minute, he thought she was
going to stop. Her hand fisted around his base, and she dove at him. Nearly his entire length went
down that gorgeous throat. He couldn’t breathe, didn’t know how she was breathing. On and on,
pulls and sucks tugged at his inside.
“Gonna, gonna.” He tried for speech, some warning, but she sped up. Mindless pleasure
grabbed him. He couldn’t think. Hot, hard, he was gonna burst. Heat bloomed in his spine and
shot around to his dick. His balls lifted and tightened, and spurts of cum jetted down her throat.
His vision whited out and pleasure so intense rocked every cell in his body. Fuck, fuck, on and
on.
He grabbed her face. She eased away and gently kissed the tip, seemingly fascinated at the
little after-shocks that bobbed his dick up to meet her. Mac straightened his spine and lifted her
up flush to his body, hard. His legs were just catching on with having to hold him up, but damn
he wasn’t letting so much as one of her toes hit the floor. She was his, every inch, every fucking
perfect inch.

I love a good shifter book! Raleigh Point - Rescue is a unique book and offered me just that. A fantastic escape into a world familiar yet unique.

Raleigh Point - Rescue is a home that helps place homeless shifter children to get them out of the human world of foster care. It places them into unique families that will help them understand and control their emotions and urges as puberty (and we know that's bad enough with out dealing with an animal form!) create strange and sometimes frightening changes in their young bodies.

But sometimes an adult needs help too. Case in point - Lisa. Mac goes to help and finds out this drugged out and terrorized young woman is his mate. She'd slipped through the cracks and been in foster care her whole life. She has no clue why she spins into uncontrollable rages.

Wicked.

It's what she's been told. Mac's honor vies with what his and Lisa's bodies need before she is lost.
Before the mating ritual is completed Lisa is kidnapped. Lisa's own brand of honor makes her protect the young one's even if it makes those around her doubt her.

Raleigh Point - Rescue immerses you in the world of shifters, showing you the best and the worst their world has to offer. Wonderful characters that draw you into their lives kept me reading until the end of Lisa's and Mac's story and had me looking for more.

Bio

Has loved books for as long as she can remember. Books were always what pocket money went on and what usually Father Christmas brought. When she ran out of her kids' adventure stories, she would go raid her Mom's. By the age of eight she was devouring classics like Little Women, and fell in love with love stories.
She's still in love with them. Any size, any shape, any creature - love is love, no matter what it says on the box. In fact if her heroes and heroines don't always fit neatly into a box, she loves them even more. She's worked as a Mom, a nurse, and a teaching assistant.
She decided to go on an adventure with her family in 2010 and moved from England to America and now lives in Florida.
Last year in 2013, she thought it was time to stop just reading love stories and start writing them
